Learning the Value of Leadership and Teamwork

Writer: Gracie WilderGracie Wilder

Being part of the Franklin County youth coalition, Teens Making A New Tomorrow has been a significant accomplishment for me. It has not only allowed me to contribute to a cause I care deeply about but has also sparked a period of personal growth and a new understanding of both myself and others.

Through this experience, I have learned the value of leadership and teamwork. Working with my peers to spread awareness and educate others about the dangers of substance abuse has given me a greater appreciation for the power of collective action and the impact that dedicated individuals can make in their communities. I have also gained insight into the challenges faced by young people dealing with these issues, which has deepened my empathy and commitment to helping others.

Being a part of this group has given me the opportunity to attend some incredible conferences. I participated in the Thrive Conference, which focused on leadership and resilience, providing valuable insights into personal growth and effective leadership skills. I also had the chance to attend the CADCA Conference in Washington, DC, where I spent a week learning about youth drug and alcohol prevention from many different people. Additionally, I took part in the TTI Conference, a week-long event that covered a wide range of topics, including leadership, teamwork, and substance abuse prevention. These experiences have significantly expanded my knowledge and skills, further fueling my passion for making a difference in my community.

Overall, being involved with Teens Making a New Tomorrow has had a huge impact on my life. It’s not just about the amazing experiences I’ve had, but also the strong connections I’ve made within the group. These relationships provided support and hope when I felt alone, making a big difference in my life. This experience has opened my eyes to the serious issues of drug and alcohol abuse and their impact on our community and the world. I truly believe that if our work can positively change even one person’s life, it will have been worth it. This belief is what keeps me motivated and dedicated to our cause.
